The first fish of the day was landed by Carl. The fish dash under the platform and there goes Carl broken rod. Despite the handicap the AC was still landed.

Over all the bite rate was average, with ALl sort of fished seen landed. From MJ , TN , AC, GT and Gao.

John , Bruce and Danny each landed 3 to 5 Pieces. ShinYin maybe 2 fishes and Carl first fish was also his last.

It was a slow day without much fish feeding. No GT sighted unlike the norrmal time we could see the pool of fishes swimming around us. The main catch of the day is KBL. Only one GT landed this trip.

Today anglers , John, Carl, Shawn, Andrew, Gary Sng and Danny. first 5 min all LJLJ no zero fighter. The fishes never fail to to performance , John was the first to be bullied with his first fish dashing all the way to the pump. Fish gone John lost first round. The day continues with very good bite rate by the GT, I think most of us have at least 4 to 5 pcs of GT until we give up going for other fishes, the 2 rare fish of the day was 1 Taiwan Ngor landed by Andrew and 1 Grouper landed by John. Over all was another fun day , the next session will be next Sunday 18 December 2011.

Fishes caught lots of GT landed especially by Gary Sng , all he wanted was a KBL , but GT love him. As usual Wong can only fish in Ed pond here despite everyone LJLJ he was the last to figure out how to fish in Dave pond. Got bullied on a one way train to the pump area.

This Morning 4 anglers , Carl ,Billy, John and myself went to Dave GT pond for a early morning session from 8 am to 10 am. Except for Carl the 3 of us was the first time fishing there. Nos of fishes landed cannot count well we think at least we have more than 8 fishes per anglers with a lot of miss because we are using circle hook for the first time.
Champion of the day with the most nos of GT landed should be Carl , while Billy made friend with all the Taiwan. As for myself see the Gao below , only regret is that we were told I can tapoa the Gao back if I want for $30 per Kg , this was told to us after we let the fish swim away else that fish should end up as my dinner tonight. Over all we have a very good session with no regret we even book next Sunday slot from 7 am to 9 am.

Found this telescopic in shanghai.... one of the best I have come across, ready for CnR at PRPP, 1.2m long, but freaking solid rod..... I rate it alongside the shimano Holiday Spin that some of the elder fishoes may know.... in fact, power wise, i feel it may be above that because of the length at 1.2m, I reckon I can manage a 5kg taiwan on this easily....

The chef of a popular seafood restaurant at Geylang has defended charging his customers high prices, including $130 for a plate of crab bee hoon.

The restaurant in question, Sin Huat Seafood Restaurant, is under the spotlight after a Yahoo! reader said she was charged $421 for a dinner for four adults and two children when she visited the eatery for dinner earlier this month.

Salesperson Gelene Ong, who went there with her family of six, received a rude shock when she saw the final bill.

Her dinner consisted of crab bee hoon ($130), scallops ($50), conch or gong gong ($50), prawns ($77), frog legs ($78) and vegetables ($12). Other items on the bill were peanuts and drinks ($20.40) and wet towels ($3.60).

However, chef Danny Lee said in response, "It's all a one-man show. Every dish we have, I make sure I take the orders and cook it myself. I also make sure that my ingredients are clean and fresh."

When Yahoo! Singapore visited his restaurant this week, he also explained the steps he takes to ensure that his dishes are fresh.

"For my gong gong (conch), I always tell people 'if you don't take my gong gong here, try not to take it elsewhere. I keep my gong gong in the tanks for a week for it to clear out the mud and dirt."

He also voiced his doubts that other seafood restaurants actually serve live seafood.

"They are serving such a big crowd everyday and they always only have a few fishes in the tanks. At the end of the day, you still see the fish swimming in the tank," said the chef.

At the time, customer Ong said she had visited the restaurant because the place was recommended by her friend who said she should try the crab bee hoon.

But she said she "didn't expect it to be so expensive" and was also put off by the lack of communication between her and the restaurant. She was not informed of the prices when her orders were taken.

"The restaurant had no menu. The service crew was also pushy about getting us to order an extra fish when we already had so much food," Ong added.

The extra fish she was asked to order was Cheng yu, otherwise known as Parrot Fish, and it comes at $120 per kilogram.

Chef Lee clarified that his restaurant does not provide menus.

"We don't have a menu. People who come here know me and, most of the time, they will ask me how much the dishes are. It just happened that on the day she visited the restaurant, she did not ask for the prices. Even if she asked, I would not have charged her differently," Lee said.

Chef Lee took out a stack of receipts to show the amount paid by other customers. It was exactly as he said: the prices were standardised.

It's not the first time the seafood restaurant has hit the headlines.

Chef Lee, who is known to be the "food nazi of Geylang", can be quite obnoxious, according to reviews posted on popular food site HungryGoWhere.

Potential customers visiting Sin Huat are also warned to be prepared for long waits and should avoid ordering from food stalls beside the restaurant.

"Sometimes people complain I serve too slow. I only have two hands and I'm the only cook. People may see me looking like I'm angry or impatient because I have no time to entertain them," Chef Lee explained.

His favourite customers are those who know how to appreciate good food.

"No point buying cheap food and it doesn't taste good. There's nothing special about that," said the owner of the restaurant who's hosted the likes of celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain.

Expensive meals have been in the limelight recently. Last month, Yahoo! Singapore ran a story about nasi lemak going for $8.30 along Upper Serangoon Road.

An expatriate diner was also charged $1,107.32 for a seafood lunch for two at Boat Quay's Forum Seafood Village Restaurant earlier this week, reported Today newspaper.

CASE has received 12 complaints for alleged overcharging by food and beverage outlets from January to May this year.

4-year-old girl dies in Changi Beach tragedy

A four-year-old girl was swept out to sea at Changi Beach on Sunday, and died while on the way to the hospital.

Nur Nadhirah Atiqah was found about 15m from the shore after a stranger swam into the sea to help look for her. The young girl was at the beach with her family for an early Father's Day celebration, according to The New Paper.

Her heart had stopped beating when she was rescued from the sea, but was restored when a female stranger administered CPR to her. She was unable to survive the subsequent trip to the hospital, however.

Nur Nadhirah had been playing in the sea with her cousins at about 1:15pm when a wave washed over her and she went missing. An emergency call was then made, and an ambulance was dispatched to Changi Beach.

Her father, Muhd Imran, told Lianhe Wanbao that he had allowed her to play in the water with her cousins as one of her sisters was unwell. Her mother had been taking care of her younger sister.

"After she was lost, I kept shouting her name and a man went into the water to find her," he said, adding that after she had been found and brought back to shore, another stranger gave her CPR to revive her heartbeat.

According to reports, doctors later found that there were foreign objects blocking Nur Nadhirah's throat.

Muhd Imran said, "I watched her take her last breath. If only I had been more careful, she would not have died. I will have to carry this regret with me for the rest of my life."

On a fishing trip with his friends at a canal near his home in US, a 10-year-old boy caught a 1.8m alligator.

Not knowing the big reptile could easily eat him up alive, Michael Dasher dragged the alligator home.

His grandfather was shocked to see the alligator in the front yard.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers were called to the Rockledge home last Wednesday.

Michael told the officers he had been fishing with friends when something big caught the hook and snapped the line.

He said the alligator ran at him, so he started hitting it with sticks and jumped on its back.

The boy then dragged the alligator home and suffered only minor scratches on his hands and arms.

Wildlife officers said they would release the alligator back into the St. John's River.

TALISAY, Philippines (AP) — More than 800 tons of fish have died and rotted on fish farms in a lake near Taal volcano south of Manila, with authorities blaming it on a sudden temperature drop.

The massive fish deaths started late last week but have eased. Officials have banned the sale of the rotting fish, which are being buried by the truckload in Talisay and three other towns in Batangas province, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources official Rose del Mundo said Sunday.

The deaths are unrelated to recent signs of restiveness in Taal volcano, which is surrounded by the lake where many villagers have grown milkfish and tilapia — staple foods for many Filipinos, officials said. The volcano and lake are a popular tourist draw.

Government volcanologist Allan Loza said Monday that 115 earthquakes were detected in Taal in the past 24 hours compared to an average of 10 to 15 quakes daily in recent weeks, a sign that magma is rising from within the small volcano. Such unrest has been monitored since April, long before last week's fish deaths, he said.

Talisay agricultural officer Zenaida Macatangay said an initial investigation showed the deaths may have been caused by the temperature change as the rainy season set in last week after a scorching summer, which also depleted the lake's oxygen levels.

Schools of fish were seen swimming in circles before they floated dead to the surface in huge numbers. The deaths have occurred in the past at summer's end but in much smaller numbers, Mendoza said.

Some Taal lake areas turned white due to the massive numbers of dead milk-colored fish. Workers covered their noses with their hands or clothing Sunday as they scooped up the rotting fish and placed them into sacks.

"Many were sad and devastated because they invested a lot in these fish cages," Talisay Mayor Zenaida Mendoza told The Associated Press by telephone.

More than 400 tons of milkfish have died in Talisay alone since Friday in 84 out of about 1,000 fish pens — lake areas about half the size of a basketball court that are fenced off by bamboo poles and nets. Damage has been estimated at $770,000 (33 million pesos), Mendoza said. About 400 tons more have died in the other towns.

A SEAFOOD-stall boss who in April, escaped the death sentence for the 2006 killing of his Chinese mistress, was on Friday jailed for 10 years.

Prosecutors had sought life imprisonment for Eu Lim Hoklai, 57, but Justice Kan Ting Chiu did not think it was appropriate.

After sentencing, Eu's 86-year-old mother - who was in court with a few relatives - broke down in tears and told her son's lawyer, Mr Subhas Anandan, in Hokkien: 'You saved my child.'

The 10-year jail term was backdated to the date Eu was first remanded in June 2006. With the usual one-third remission for good behaviour, he could be released from prison in just over a year.

Eu had been given the mandatory death penalty by the High Court in 2009 for murdering Madam Yu Hongjin, 30, in a massage parlour she ran in Ang Mo Kio on June 18, 2006. He appealed against the conviction in September 2010.

In April 2011, the appeal court set aside his murder conviction and found him guilty of a lesser charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, saying that it appears to have been a death caused in the heat of the moment, either upon a sudden fight or grave and sudden provocation. The appeal court said there was sufficient objective evidence to show that an intense struggle had taken place at the massage parlour.

SINGAPORE: A local animal welfare group has released undercover videos of 25 dolphins that will be part of the attractions of the marine life park at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS).

The videos by Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (ACRES) showed the bottlenose dolphins, which were caught off the Solomon Islands, being tamed and trained in Subic Bay in the Philippines.

A group of people were seen standing around a dolphin enclosure. As they watched the dolphins, several of the marine mammals occasionally jumped out of the water.

After completion of their training, they will be sent to RWS, as part of its interactive dolphin spa experience for visitors.

ACRES said one concern is the dolphins are being fed only dead fish, which is unnatural. It added that this is also highly stressful as wild dolphins are used to eating only fresh fish.

At a separate press conference on Friday, CEO of Resorts World Sentosa Tan Hee Teck, said Resorts World has followed the rules on the trade of endangered species.

He said: "All our dolphins in Subic Bay today are very healthy, and we hopefully will be able to bring them, what I call back home here, in the next 12 months."

In addition, a press statement from Resorts World said they employ world—renowned veterinarians for the Subic Bay facility, and have built a laboratory to regularly test the health of the dolphins.

The company came under fire last year after it was discovered that a smaller group of dolphins in Langkawi were kept under poor conditions.

Two of the dolphins died of acute bacterial infection called Melioidosis in October 2010. Melioidosis is a soil—borne disease, with infections occurring primarily during the rainy season.

After the issue came to light, the company moved the rest of the dolphins to the Philippines.

In conjunction with the release of the videos, ACRES has launched a "Save the World’s Saddest Dolphins" music campaign.

It said it is not opposed to a marine park filled with species that are more adaptable to confined spaces. However, it is urging Resorts World to release the dolphins and allow them to roam free and wild in the ocean.

Louis Ng, Executive Director of ACRES, said: "The reality is that I think the small percentage of change in the size of the enclosure doesn’t make a difference in the bigger scheme of things.

"We need to realise that these dolphins have a home range of over 40 square kilometres in the wild. Even if you give them another two by two metres, I don’t think that makes much of a difference."

This lucky man caught a pomfret, weighing approximately 3kg, at Marina Bay Sands with his bare hands, before releasing it back into the water.

STOMPer maxikat, who witnessed the spectacle, said:

"There was a slight commotion at the Marina Bay Sands boardwalk tonight as a man, who only wanted to be known as Mr Chua, scooped a pomfret, estimated to be over 3kg in weight.

"The fish was observed to be swimming in a daze just under the surface of the water near the edge of the boardwalk.

"Mr Chua caught the fish out of the water with his bare hands, to the surprise and fright of several passers-by.

"The spectacle drew a small crowd to the scene.

"The fish was gently released back into the pitch dark waters of the Marina Bay water catchment area, to the applause of several onlookers."

Total catch by 9 fishos - 87 Kaci, 36 Ang Kuay, many Ms Wong, some TeeBoons and Angkoli, 1 x 16kg Stingray, 1 x 5kg Shovelnose, 1 x 8kg Cobia. Boat rental is $1400 for 2 day 1 night but only dinner and breakfast provided. Boatman manage to avoid storm in afternoon, current is moderate with size 6J-16J sinkers used.

A deep sea 'monster' sent people running for their lives when it was reeled in on a Taiwanese beach recently.

The 3.65 metre-long yellow ribbonfish reportedly sparked tsunami panic because of its size.

The species is normally found only in deep waters, but was hooked on a line off the coast of Miaoli, in north west Taiwan.

Fisherman Xie Lu said: "People started packing up to leave. They thought some kind of terrible earthquake was coming and they began to flee."

Experts believe the fish may have been forced out of its natural habitat by the aftershocks following Japan's devastating earthquake.

One marine official said: "The original undersea earthquake did enormous damage and drove many species out of their natural habitat."

Hi all

I'll be planning for Rompin for the month of July...it will be a more relaxed hit and run trip as i was hoping if we could stay over the night after our boat trip before we proceed back to SG in the morning..

Tentatively i i'm deciding it on either Sat 16/7/11 or sun 17/7/11

Got our first fish (4.2kg Grouper) from PRPP trip. All I felt was 2 very light jerk, and I slowly raised up the rod tip. I found it heavy, but it wasn't moving at all. Gary S happened to walk passed and wondered if I got fish or got sangkot too. Just when he was asking, the fishing make its dash. I quickly pass the rod to my wife, Veron. She did most of the fighting under the professional advise of Uncle Yong but she's unable to take the strong dash after some fights.

We finally manage to land it with the help of Uncle Yong and Gary S and paid $8 for the baithouse to clean it for us.

Today went down to fw3 fw pond to test the new reel bogan kencron 3000 size

verdict of reel: super smooth,though heavy (cos built for sw water),drag is strong
worth every bit of money for its class

worth the money to get this reel,only down side is as per any other spinning reel,whhich is drag pad need to be re-greased a bit.

Today just got a call from Le Anglers at Blk 530 Bedok North informing me that their new killersword ultra light blanks are in

at this point of time,i heard they gonna come out with a pe0.8-pe2 blank in the near future

if you are interested in the blanks please go down take a look,
however the proprietor,Jimmy will be out of town to make video for the new blanks (for promotional purposes) from 3 March to 10 March.

And personally i have 6 killerswords offshore rods from pe1 to pe6 and one pond rod 10-20lb and i find the rods to be up to team aa's tackle thrashing standard verified by fw3's giant cpc.

For those who does not know much about the killersword blanks,you can go to fk and search for it(if fk is up),they had a trip to lucornia last year and landed a 60kg gao tun on it.

Cruelty is a high price to pay for tasty food, says STOMPer Vivo who sent this video of a speed-contest for chefs in China.

The first dish was snake. The chefs chopped up the snakes into little chunks. In the finished dish, you can see the tiny chunks still moving. "So cruel," says Vivo.

The next dish that the chefs had to cook at double-quick time was one in which the fish was dunked into boiling oil, with the head held up by the chef.

When the cooking was done, the fish was still breathing. "It must be very painful for the fish, with three quarters of its body cooked," commented Vivo.

In fact, one of the Chinese commentator said that the fish must open its mouth or the chef would have failed.

"How can everyone be so nonchalant about the cruelty they are inflicting on animals?" asked Vivo.

Russian miniaturist Anatoly Konenko has created the world's smallest aquarium, complete with live fish.

STOMPer IFoundNemo, who received these pictures via email, said:

"The tank is made of fibreglass and there are even live algae at the bottom of the tank.

"There is a size limit for the fish -- they each cannot exceed 4mm in length.

"I sure would like to have a couple of these fish tanks in the office.

"I heard they are a chick magnet."

Dear all Team AA members,

Team AA will be coming out with our very own braid lines for sale,
so now we got some sample of 8lb and 10lb white colour braid lines for testing.

If you wish to have a sample of the 8lb or 10lb line please bring a reel for me to load the lines in.

As the sample line poundage is light,please bring to me a 500/700/1000 size reel for me to load in.

Those interested in testing the lines please contact me.

We will be having a one off mass order after the testing of the lines,after which the lines will have to be purchased outside.

Due to the fact that our CO's flight was delayed for another 2 more days,we went for another session at FW3 FW pond today

Present : Storm,Mrs Storm,Angling Addict,Burp,L0ner,Ken,Gary S,F6,Xeno,PP777,Jeff

Fishes were landed one after another and bigger than one another,with a few double hook ups and at one point of time triple hook ups...

Today's subject of tackle test was Golden mean Sable Dance PE1,Caldia 2009 2000size,30lb power pro line with 60lb shock leader and terminal tackle was 2/0 hook apolo

The whole setup was tested at least 4 time by 5 diff anglers bending the rod to "n" shape and testing the drag test of the caldia,this setup will get a 9/10 for any fishes up till about 25kg...

Mostly likely will depart on the 8th evening and return on the 10th morning , will be reach around noon time. timing to be confirm again
Maximum of 10 anglers, + 1 boatman and 1 skipper.

Cost wise,
