Monsoon seems better for big fishes as Kelong is in shallow waters where small fishes will seek shelter during monsoon. Anyway this is accoridng to experts within Team AA... haha

I am keen but also worried abt the waves and raining during that time of the year.

How about early Jan? Would the situation be better?

Anyway, need to know what type of tackle, cost of the trip plus numbers of days. Me newbie in this.

Monsoon season is one of the best time to fish on the Kelongs.

Its the time when u can try for Tenggiri, Cobia and huge Barra.

Bring a variety of setups along.

From long heavy action surf rods for the bigges, usually with whole live selar, tambans or any bait fish u find there.

Bring a mid action, 8ft plus rod for bottom fishing with apollo rigs or keep it simple with a sinker and just a long length of leader.

If have, a noodle rod setup would be going crazy with all the todaks around the kelong. Rem, the further u drift ur bait out, the bigger the todaks.

Then also, bring a light rod for selar jigging, sotongging and rabbit fish shooting.

One more tip for set ups, if can, bring along a long pole rod for the selar papan. I can assure u, sure good fight on 6lb braided line on the pole rod.

Depending on which kelong u guys going, note the current flow. Against the current would be good for the bait fish. Flow with the current would be good for bigger game fish. Dun be stingy with the size of ur bait for ur long heavy rod. Cobia can take reli big baits.

For rabbit fish and other fun fish, one of the best spot if often behind the toilet or the kitchen. Save some cooked rice and use it for berley. Damm fun shooting the rabbit fish.

Often, one of the best baits would be tambans, but can be hard to get. Find out which rigs at the moment are hot over there, Different brand of tamban jigs work differently there.

Bring some light 20-30g jigs there too. I like to use those lumo ones, good for Saitoh. Spinning it like normal luring.

And dun forget! The ever good sotong jig!
