latest update from Sibu

bros and Sis

Recieve an sms from Bro Xeno
His friends just got back from Ah Fatt Kelong yesterday.
according to them, they were using 50lbs mono line and 80lbs wire leader.
they landed a few 10kg++ game fishes including Cobias and numerous misses.
also mentioned that their 80lbs wire leader snapped..
using surf casting with running ranggong and life bait with size 5 and 6 hooks...
hopefully we can expect the same result when we're there...

bro piero, if u using surfcast rod, sure u can cast far, provided u using mono lines. if using braided lines for casting, SURE a BIG beehoon ..
btw all those bites are casted far away from the kelong.

ok guys, if u guys gonna target small fish like tua bak, leng chim, sabiki hooks sixe 10 or 12 will be good.( get from gina , those $2/pkts de.)try not to get those..
den for those playing BIG GAME, prepare running ranggong, with size 6,7 or 8 sinker. size 5 or 6 hooks w/ atleast 50LB wired leader.(prefer OWNERS HOOKS), 50LB leader.

as for bro piero, yr reels and lines is fine. but if u gonna cast out, its quite dangerous, as it can cut yr fingers very easily. but if using ballon targeting, no problem.

Xeno...

What reel and line U using for surfcasting purpposes?

piero, for surfcasting, use mono lines.. COS.. braided lines will sure cuts yr thumb if u cast out n control the speed of the spool with yr thumb.. if for bottom , can use both mono n braided.
but i only bring a cheap cheap multiplier there , with berkley 40lb mono

Thanks Xeno for the advise. Think I will front load my braided line with 10m of FC lines as shock leader. That shd prevent cutting of my finger yet allow me to do surf casting right?

Also bought a cheap glove that protects the finger for casting.

bro piero, if u r using braided lines on spinning reel for casting, sure no problem..
but if u using braided on multipliers to cast, god bless..

Keith Peck said...

Oh... Using spinning... Multipler going to leave them at home... Spinning reels under used at the moment. Time for them to see the sun, sand and the seas...
