Confronting the phobia

well, this time round, though the title dont really suit here but than the whole works is ...so please bear with me

well...after spoiling 1 spinning reel and 1 multiplier in my younger days while attempting to open up the reels and trying to put them back,i kinda developed a phobia towards the mechanics of reels.

so our in house Dr. Reel is the one who is handling most of my reels that need servicing.

however,i think its time for me to confront the demons and try to exorcise them so after reading up and doing some research,i find that its the easiest way to do "jigsaw puzzle" servicing.

what is jigsaw puzzle servicing you might ask...
well, its simple, take the reel apart section by section, laying them down in sequence of how they were taken apart, after cleaning and re-lubing,put them back according to how i dismantle them...so here goes....

well, this reel was engaged in a battle at devils point in prpp about a few weeks back, going underwater, and it does not feel so smooth after that, and cos its really a cheapo reel with not much complicated bearings and such,so i decided to use it and do it....

all i basically did was take out the removable parts check for broken parts cos of the unsmoothness, after taking apart did not find any broken parts, clean out the parts who had original lube turned black,re-lube them and put them back....

gave it a few turns, found it a tad smoother than original, but maybe cos of the low end ball bearings n little number of ball bearings(3 in total) used in the reel originally and i dont know how to change so decide to just leave it alone.

anyways just basically doing this to confront the phobia i have and its just a very very simple reel...hehehehe....think after confronting this,i will still give the major works to the pple who are more apt to servicing reels than me,prolly i will just do some basic taking apart and re-lubing after a few uses to ensure longevity of the lifespan of the reels
